A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, born Abhay Charan De on September 1, 1896 in Calcutta, India, was a prominent spiritual leader and founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). His mission was to spread the teachings of Krishna consciousness and the Hare Krishna mantra to the Western world.
