His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, commonly known as Srila Prabhupada, was a key figure in the global spread of Krishna consciousness and the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). Born on September 1, 1896 in Calcutta, India, his initial name was Abhay Charan De. His upbringing in a devout Hindu family instilled in him a deep devotion to Lord Krishna from an early age.
